What a delightful two week adventure on , THE BIG ISLAND! I felt like a local immediately or having some serious wishful thinking. And we definitely kicked it like locals. Scooping the inside of lilikoi's with our fingers and using them as our fairy cups, swinging like little monkeys from rope swings at the beach, crushing mac nuts with rocks and eating abundant amounts of fresh mangoes, papayas and coconuts both from the farmette we were staying on and from our most gracious new friends..thanks laurel et familyl!
Luckily for us it was the, Dave Nelson Band Aloha Tour, that delivered us here for our first time as a family. The music was delightful and we were truly loving the local scene, us blissed out California hippies and the local heads on the island. Oh yeah, we rocked 3 shows with the kiddos in tote. The venues were outrageous and the experience way intimate and filled with new and old friends.
The flora and fauna, mystical volcanoes, snow covered Mauna Kea, black sand beaches and green lush mountains everywhere you look, really quite breathtaking and that's only speaking for whats going on above sea level. We explored Captain Cooks bay and snorkeled with the kids in the healing turquoise waters. While, Caleb, was searching for the state fish through his boogie board lens, Ayla was playing happy mermaid in her ring blowing bubbles at the purple and pink brain coral.
Oh dear, it's taken me nearly a month to transition back into home life and blogging.
We found ourselves very grounded on this volcanic rock island. Now, I practice energy grounding meditations and sink my double aquarian roots back into the earth. Did I mention we broke our camera during a sweet family moment on Hapuna beach. Yep, too much sand in the lense. So these photos were downloaded from the iphone and i have a disc from out water camera somewhere. Well, friends it's good to be back home.
